the 2020 Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference (February 29, 2020)

This presentation focuses on our population that annually grows older and more racially and ethnically diverse. This population will challenge the current healthcare system in many ways, particularly in the lack of diverse healthcare professionals who reflect this population. Academic institutions must strategically diversify their programs, thereby diversifying the healthcare workforce.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this
presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the changing landscape of the United States and how this change impacts healthcare systems and access to quality care
2. Analyze current data on the healthcare workforce, emphasizing clinical laboratory scientists
3. Propose ways to diversify the clinical laboratory scientists workforce, and create more equitable and inclusive learning and work environments
