Bringing Clinical Microbiology Training to Campus: Our MLT Programs are Making it Work!

Discover what two MLT programs in South Carolina have done to respond to the lack of microbiology clinical rotation sites by bringing part of the rotations to campus. What they did, how they did it, how it worked, and what they learned.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to
1. Identify the common problems/issues encountered by MLT/MLS programs, as the number of clinical microbiology sites for student placement continues to decrease.
2. Evaluate solutions and alternatives implemented by these two programs facing shortages of clinical microbiology sites for students.
3. Create strategies for redesigning alternative clinical microbiology experience for their own MLT/MLS program.

This recorded presentation is P.A.C.E. ® accredited. The instruction level for this activity is Intermediate. One (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hour and one and one (1) Florida credit hour in the area Microbiology will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for recertification and licensure.
