CLIA and Point of Care Testing

The presentation includes a general overview of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988, test categorization criteria, CLIA certificate types, CLIA requirements waived vs. nonwaived and guidance on regulations regarding point of care testing.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Summarize the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988.
  2. Describe the test categorization criteria and CLIA certificate types.
  3. Outline the CLIA requirements for waived vs. nonwaived and POCT.
