Off the Bench Podcast: Legislation Insights for the Laboratory with Stephanie Noblit

Legislative awareness is important for Laboratory professionals as what happens in our legislation can affect our daily lives. There are currently two legislative efforts that are being supported by ASCLS and laboratories, PAMA and the Work Force Shortage. This podcast will provide information on these legislative efforts.


Upon completion of this self-study course, participants will be able to:
  • Summarize the current legislation that ASCLS supports.
  • Describe the role of the clinical laboratory in legislative efforts.
  • Assess the importance of the clinical laboratory on legislative efforts.


This self-study is P.A.C.E. ® accredited. The instruction level for this activity is Basic. One (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hours and one (1) Florida credit hours in the area General (General) will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for recertification and licensure. ASCLS is an approved provider with CE Broker for Florida licensees.


Stephanie Noblit received her J.D. from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2019, where she concentrated in health law. She currently works as a legislative analyst at the Legislative Analysis and Public Policy Association. In addition to her J.D., Stephanie is also a certified medical laboratory scientist. Stephanie is heavily involved in ASCLS and is currently serving as the vice-chair of the government affairs committee and as a mentor to the developing and ascending professional members of the committee.

This basic-level program is appropriate for laboratory professionals working in clinical, public health and academic settings.
