Measuring Quality Using the Patient Safety Perspective

Ensuring the quality of laboratory testing services is a supervisory and managerial responsibility. This session will provide tools and methods to measure the quality of laboratory testing services using the patient safety framework of safe, effective, efficient, timely, patient-centered and equitable.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to
  1. Define patient safety with respect to laboratory testing services.
  2. List one specific method to improve laboratory patient safety.
  3. Discuss one method to measure laboratory patient safety.
