Killing Three Birds With One Stone: Staffing Student Labs, Strengthening Student Professionalism, and Recruiting for Our Program

This session will explore how one program uses two diverse courses to help produce job-ready graduates and contribute to MLS program success. Our seniors prepare and help staff our student laboratories, engage actively in program recruitment, and complete multiple projects that strengthen their professional skills and laboratory operations experience.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Summarize the synergistic benefits of utilizing senior MLS students to prepare and help staff student laboratories.
  2. Review various program recruitment strategies and how they are implemented into the courses.
  3. Discuss professionalism and laboratory operations assignments and correlate them with entry level competency achievement.

ASCLS is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. ® Program. One (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hour and one (1) Florida credit hour in the area Education/General will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for recertification and licensure. ASCLS is an approved provider with CE Broker for Florida licensees.

This intermediate-level program is appropriate for laboratory professionals working in clinical, public health and academic settings.
