Closing Keynote - Teaching Ethics: A Lesson in Weaving

From the 2021 Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference (CLEC) - Recorded February 27, 2021
Presented by Kristie Espinal, M.Ed.

Teaching ethics seems daunting when the curriculum is already full of high-stakes, time-consuming topics. The best way to teach ethics, however, is to weave the lessons into and throughout the standard curriculum. This session aims to demonstrate that, rather than a barrier, a full and robust curriculum is the perfect vehicle for teaching ethics.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to

  1. Identify the importance of teaching ethics across the curriculum.
  2. Apply principles of adult learning to teaching ethics.
  3. Describe various methods for integrating ethics lessons into a curriculum, course or lesson.
