This presentation discusses the
legal, regulatory, and ethical issues that arise when private companies provide
DNA testing and interpretation to consumers without the guidance of trained
medical professionals. Test quality in relation to results and polygenic risk
scores with interpretation are also included.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation,
participants will be able to:
- Discuss basic issues regarding accuracy of Direct to Consumer DNA testing.
- Discuss specific legal and regulatory issues regarding Direct to Consumer DNA Testing.
- Describe issues with interpretation of Direct to Consumer DNA Testing.
