This session includes a discussion on the benefits and utility of using FISH testing in a diagnostic laboratory for obtaining an accurate, precise and prompt diagnosis. The discussion will focus on the benefits and challenges of FISH testing locally, regionally or globally.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the value of FISH as a key diagnostic molecular too for both clinical and research applications
  • Discuss the application of FISH to contextually define and localize nucleic acid sequences on human metaphase chromosomes and interphase nuclei
  • Describe the value and obstacles of diagnostic testing in low and middle-income countries
